Legal Assistant
JOB DESCRIPTION: Arthur Law Firm has been serving northwest Ohio and the surrounding areas for more than 50 years. Our emphasis is on personal injury law. We are committed to helping people as they navigate through the legal process. We have an opening for a full-time Legal Assistant working primarily in the area of personal injury and criminal defense law.
This position is Monday – Friday from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm at our 901 Ralston Ave., Defiance, Ohio location. The start date is January 2, 2026.
The ideal candidate takes pride in providing excellent customer service, enjoys interacting with and helping people in-person and on the phone, has excellent organization and time management skills, has a strong attention to detail and the ability to multi-task, has excellent verbal and written communication skills, is friendly and professional, has a passion for helping people, a strong desire to learn, and is able to work collaboratively with other paralegals, staff members, and attorneys in order to be a highly successful, committed advocate for our clients.
SKILLS: Responsibilities include managing client communications, maintaining attorneys’ calendars, communicating with courts, attorneys, clients, experts, etc., while processing cases, processing pleadings, motions, correspondence, etc., in criminal and personal injury cases, interviewing prospective clients to become familiar with their case and other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE: An associate’s degree or certificate program in legal assistant/paralegal studies or an equivalent education background with basic legal knowledge is preferred, but not required.
Familiarity with multi-line phone system, Microsoft Office/Word/Excel, Outlook, case management application, and document management application preferred.
COMPENSATION: Benefits include health insurance, retirement plan, life insurance, and paid time off (vacation and sick time).
Compensation is commensurate based on experience. Starting at $17.00/hr. – $35,360.00 per year
